Student Jobs and Internships

Students and professor at the Soap Factory

Work-Study

Many different part-time jobs are available on campus to help offset educational expenses and gain work experience. Work-study positions are posted throughout the semester. Students typically work five to ten hours per week. To be hired, you must have work-study included on your financial aid letter.

DesignWorks

DesignWorks is the college’s in-house design studio where MCAD’s ads, brochures, catalogs, signage, posters, videos, and much more are produced. At DesignWorks student designers and photographers have the opportunity to work part-time on projects with the support of a full-time professional staff. Students get the competitive edge they need to be successful after college by learning about process, print production, and real-world problem solving.

Internships

An internship is an academic learning opportunity where you work under the mentorship of an experienced professional on an assigned project in your chosen industry. Real-world work experience allows you to earn credits while enhancing your skills, networking, and building your resume.

“The most rewarding part of this experience was feeling like I was growing and learning so much in a short time. I valued learning about packaging on a deeper level, finding effective ways to create mood boards, speaking about a brand, and relaying brand ideas to people in other departments.” –Beta DeFlorian ’21: Graphic Design Intern at Target

“This internship helped me really hone my studio photography skills and more fully understand how photographers manipulate light for commercial uses, which I think was a weakness previously of mine.” –Kam Darby ’20: Photography Intern at Minneapolis Institute of Arts (Mia)
