Building Blocks: The Art of Architecture for ages 6-9 (in person)

Step into the role of an architect and create blueprints, schematics, and models for breathtaking buildings. Open to ages 6-9.

Course description

Through drawings, painting, and 3D models, imagine and learn to build basic architectural elements like columns, domes, and arches using a variety of materials. Through lessons that focus on texture, balance, detail, and form students learn about architects and designers like Frank Lloyd Wright, Gustave Eiffel, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and Frank Gehry. A trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art allows students to see examples of architectural models and drawings. Families are invited to join the young architects on the last day of class to view all the works on display.

Open to students ages 6–9. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Summer Youth Camps Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration.
