Discover the diverse world of comics while learning visual tools, tricks, and concepts to creating comic stories. Open to ages 15-18. Course descriptionLearn the necessary skills to develop and create short form comics. The class covers storytelling, character and environment development, penciling, inking, and production. Students will look at how comics have changed over the years and discover how truly diverse comic genres can be. Whether superheroes or real-life stories, students will be introduced to the tools and foundations of storytelling that will help them develop their own personal mini-comic.Open to students ages 15–18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.PrerequisitesPrevious drawing experience is helpful, but not required.Class Meeting DetailsThis online course will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous. Students will meet together online for synchronous class meetings on Mondays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. CST using Google Meet for demonstrations, discussions, opportunities for students to ask questions, and check-ins. Asynchronous activities may include readings, video demonstrations and tutorials, online discussions, projects, and critiques.
