Explore art history through a canon of comedy and make work in the studio with an emphasis on visual humor. Course descriptionIn this cross-disciplinary Fine Art course, explore the psychology of how humor works, the fundamental elements of visual humor, creative play, timing and expectations. Students have the opportunity to research how artists throughout the ages have incorporated humor in their art and have used various collage mediums to explore prop comedy, slapstick, rule of 3's, parody, stand up, deadpan, absurdity, and other approaches to humor. This class is a combination of lectures and readings, research, short writings, group critiques, and studio work. / Materials fee of $12 included in tuition.Open to students ages 18 and above.
