Learn the fundamental techniques of of digital painting using Adobe Photoshop. Open to ages 15-18. Course descriptionBecome accustomed to blending, using layers, masking, working with brushes, thinking about color, and strategies for approaching the painting process. Complete exercises during class time to practice techniques before exploring them in application, and work on creating a single digital painting.Open to students ages 15-18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.PrerequisitesPrevious drawing and painting experience are helpful, but not required. Previous experience with Adobe Photoshop helpful, but not required.Class meeting DetailsThis online course will be synchronous, meaning students will meet together online. Class meetings will be conducted via Google Meet and and consist of lectures, demonstrations, exercises, work time, and critiques.Required materialsSupplies for first classPen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook.SoftwareAdobe Creative Cloud (provided by MCAD).HardwareComputer capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud with internet access, a camera, and microphone for class meetings.Graphics tablet (such as a Wacom Intuos, Huion Inspiroy, or similar) OR a drawing monitor (such as a Wacom Cintiq, Huion Kamvas, or similar) or other setup with a pressure sensitive pen (such as an iPad and Apple Pencil).Students should make sure their digital drawing setup is fully installed/functional before the first day of class. Note: A basic graphics tablet will cost $40-$100.
