Explore the fundamentals of gesture drawing as a dynamic and expressive approach to capturing movement, energy, and form. Course descriptionDevelop an ability to quickly and fluidly depict the essence of a subject through gestural mark-making, emphasizing rhythm, structure, and expressive intent. Through a series of exercises, observational studies, and experimental techniques, refine the ability to convey emotion and action in drawings. Examine historical and contemporary examples of gesture drawing and analyze how artists use gestural marks to create compelling compositions. Ideal for both beginning and advanced students, this course encourages a deeper connection between observation, intuition, and artistic expression.Open to students ages 16 and above. Class meeting detailsCourse will be synchronous, meaning students will meet weekly at the same time via Google Meet. Class meetings will include lecture, demonstrations, discussions, exercises, critiques, and time to ask questions and share resources. Office hours follow each class session for 30 minutes. Office hours are an opportunity for students to ask questions and receive feedback and guidance.
