Lunchtime Workshop: Gesture Drawing (online) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Lunchtime Workshop: Gesture Drawing (online)

Explore the fundamentals of gesture drawing as a dynamic and expressive approach to capturing movement, energy, and form.

Course description

Develop an ability to quickly and fluidly depict the essence of a subject through gestural mark-making, emphasizing rhythm, structure, and expressive intent. Through a series of exercises, observational studies, and experimental techniques, refine the ability to convey emotion and action in drawings. Examine historical and contemporary examples of gesture drawing and analyze how artists use gestural marks to create compelling compositions. Ideal for both beginning and advanced students, this course encourages a deeper connection between observation, intuition, and artistic expression.

Open to students ages 16 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
