Pre-College Studio Intensive: Hand-Drawn Animation for ages 15-18 (in person)

Course description

Engage in demonstrations and lectures while working independently on assignments designed to hone animation skills, ideas, and critical thinking processes. This class offers an introduction to hand-drawn animation, covering basic techniques and concepts. Students use aspects of Adobe Photoshop to bring their animations to life. Students dig into the fundamentals of animation by learning about frame rate and basic animation principles, such as squash and stretch, ease-in/ease-out, anticipation, and more. / This computer-based class is held in an MCAD computer lab and students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software during class. / This class meets Monday-Thursday for two weeks, with no class on June 19 (7 sessions total).

Open to students ages 15–18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing experience. Experience with Adobe Photoshop is helpful but not required.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class
Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. Headphones or earbuds for editing.

Software
Adobe Creative Cloud (provided by MCAD).
