Pre-College Studio Intensive: Painting and Drawing for ages 15-18 (in person)

Course description

Students will work in MCAD's professional and expansive drawing and painting classrooms to hone their skills and define their creative vision. Using traditional drawing and painting media, explore the wide range of techniques used by fine artists today. The painting section includes hands-on color theory exercises, observational studies, Master copies, and experimental research. The drawing section will focus on techniques such as organizational line, planar analysis, perspective, and value to create dynamic drawings. Participants will work from observation to add advanced work to their portfolios. / Professional nude models will be used in this class. / Students will have a 30 minute campus-based unsupervised lunch. / Materials fee of $158 in addition to class tuition.

Open to students ages 15-18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing and painting experience is helpful, but not required.

Supplies for first class
Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook.

The materials fee for this class will cover the required supplies.

What to bring
packed lunch each day, no nuts.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
