Sewing 101: Plushies and Creatures for ages 12-15 (in person)

Create soft, squishy, cute and strange plushies. Learn the basics of sewing and turn two-dimensional design into three-dimensional soft sculptures. Open to ages 12-15.

Course description

The focus of this class is stitching and sewing construction. Learn how to conceptualize and create soft objects similar to Jellycat, Squishmallows, and OnePiece. Design a pattern, draw pattern templates, cut, stitch, stuff, and embellish a creative plushie creature. Students may create a menagerie of cute and unique plushies, as they gain the skills to keep crafting on their own. No sewing skills required, all experiences welcome. / Material fee of $25 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 12–15. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2025. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Prerequisites

No sewing skills required.

Supplies
Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook.

The material fee for this class will cover the required supplies.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
