WRITEN by Kay Heino | PHOTOS by Kay Heino Hello everyone ! it's me kay, I have been moved over to the photography position at the MCAD MFA Promo team. But I'm lucky enough to be able to write this write up for the most amazing artist (and MFA mentor), Piotr Szyhalski, better known on Instagram as Labor Camp. I had the privilege to attend his exhibition titled, We are working all the time, at the Weisman art Museum. It was amazing right from the beginning, you entered the museum and was immediately placed right into a hallway of Posters made over the period of 6 months. With so many different messages you were bound to find something that connected to you . I then chose to go right into the first large room, where there was a table filled with made pamphlets , and sculptures placed all over the room. As you exited and went into the 2nd room you where able to look up and see a repeated silhouette of a bomb on the skylight. But then you entered the 2nd room and was greeted by large scale paintings on all the walls, and even one on a large roll that connected to the ceiling. This exhibition was a large pleasure to be able to view in person. The photographs don't do the scale justice. If you have a chance I would 100% take the time and go see this exhibition. It has me rethinking materials and thought processes behind my own art making, so maybe it could be something for you as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LABOR CAMP INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/laborcamp/?hl=en Weisman art museum https://wam.umn.edu/calendar/weareworkingallthetime/ Categories All
