Image Alumni ’22 Degree Bachelor of Fine Arts Areas of Study Filmmaking Current Career Content Media Specialist at KNOCK Inc.. Location Minneapolis, Minnesota Describe the work you submitted for merits. I submitted two experimental pieces that focused highly on soundscapes and playing around with visual ideas. I also submitted a short documentary I made about a restaurant. Why did you decide to come to MCAD? I decided I wanted to go to MCAD because I had taken summer classes there in the past and did PSEO and really dug the environment and the people. What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond? I plan on graduating next spring and getting a job in the film realm that involves editing or directing. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? I love getting to meet new people and making new friends with both students and professors. What's the best thing you've got from MCAD’s free shelf? I brought my younger brother to campus once with me to show him around the school. When we went to the free shelf there was an unopened case of Dr. Pepper with a note that said they bought the wrong kind so that one was up for grabs. So, either that or the really thick book of 80’s stock photos I found. What inspires you? Seeing how media changes as time goes on, how movies and tv shows have become more representational of different audiences, and how I want to be a part of turning that change into a norm. Do you have a favorite piece you’ve made? Describe it! My favorite piece I’ve made so far is my experimental piece called visual sound. In this piece I’m cutting out photos I took around my house that made sounds and when I put them down on the table in front of me a video plays on the photo. The idea behind this was to play with the idea of what photos sound like and if collages could make sounds. This is definitely a project I want to go back and expand on in the future. Anything you're obsessed with at the moment? I’m really obsessed with this new documentary I’m working on for class. It's an essay film about this Jason Voorhees statue that’s in the bottom of a lake in Crosby, Minnesota. I’ve been doing research on the town itself and there are so many little interesting facts about it! Like they had the first communist mayor in the USA and their Main Street is filled with just antique stores. Website
