Describe the work you submitted for merits.

The work I submitted for merits include a variation of my 3D work, made within the last year, that reflects my personal interest and style. I've begun to transfer my 2D work to 3D and it's exciting to see the evolution of how my work has developed since I had an initial interest in animation. In these works, I aimed to include a great emphasis on look development because I've been leaning towards that photorealistic/stylistic polished visual look that can be exaggerated through 3D Art.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

MCAD was one of the few colleges in Minnesota that had a great program in animation. After discovering how notoriously prestigious and talented the campus was, I strove to match that vigor and success that has been found in past and current MCAD students.

What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?

For my senior year, I plan to dedicate a good portion of my time to the development of my senior project. I have this idea to create this interpretive documentary that will be both educational and thought-provoking. It will include a background that relates to the historical and religious interpretations of my subject of inquiry. This project will also present my own interpretation which will be made through 3D modeling and animation. I plan to challenge some of the perceptions our current culture has shaped through past narratives. This project will also help me practice some of the skills needed for life after college. Recently, I've been leaning towards the field of medical animation after we had a visiting artist lecture discuss the benefits of working in this section of the industry. I found myself quite inspired by the notion of creating content for the purposes of education and discovery.

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

My favorite thing about college life has been how the artistic environment, that constantly engulfs me, continues to both inspire and push me to do my best. I love how competitive and integrated all creative sections of the MCAD community are. I feel the need to keep up with the talent that my peers possess. This drive really helps me prepare for the challenges of life after college.

What's the best thing you've got from MCAD's free shelf?

The best thing I've picked up from the MCAD free shelf was a very large frame that I was able to utilize in the MCAD art sale.

What inspires you?

There is not one particular thing that inspires me. I am constantly being exposed to brilliant works that are found through media, life, experiences, and my peers that help craft my own creative ideas. However, a common theme that I tend to relate to is content that includes strong emotional elements and hyper stylistic visuals.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

My favorite piece that I've made so far is the development of my 3D character Priestess. Based on fantasy inspirations and my past work, it was exciting to bring her to life; I was able to fully model, rig, animate and texture her through the incorporation of classes that I took at MCAD.

Anything you're obsessed with at the moment?

I am obsessed with learning how I can create more special effects and intensive visuals for future projects I plan to indulge in.
