Tue, Jan 17, 2017, 9 am –Sun, Feb 26, 2017, 5 pm Concourse Gallery Gallery Exhibition Image This collaborative project between Piotr Szyhalski/Labor Camp and the student-run artist collective the People's Library turns the second floor of MCAD into a public and communal printing space. Szyhalski's THEM project, a half breaking-news ticker and half protest banner, has been previously deployed at the Soap Factory, the Nash Gallery, and in protests in Minneapolis and the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. This new staging will involve continuous printing throughout the run of the exhibition. The People's Library has organized a wide range of consciousness-raising activities on campus and off, from film series and fundraisers to field trips, residencies, and exhibitions. In the wake of the presidential inauguration and in the spirit of fostering communal solidarity, the People's Library will be producing images and visual slogans throughout the months of January and February to be displayed in storefronts, at protests, and in both public and private spaces around and beyond the Twin Cities.
