Drawing is the way we first make our mark in the world and is at the core of all art making. It is as unique and personal as our signature and as expressive as a self-portrait. It extends mind and spirit while promoting a respect for looking and thinking.

It is never too late to learn to draw; there is never a time too late to have a desire to make our mark(s)! Over a ten-week period, the Drawing Project led residents of CommonBond's Riverview Senior Housing in weekly drawing sessions. Each workshop was designed for participants to carefully develop new drawing skills, techniques, and strategies. Most importantly, these workshops provided participants with new ways of seeing, looking, and engaging with the world and their community. This exhibition celebrates the success of the participants as they tackled this new process and acknowledges drawing as an intimate practice achievable by all.

The Drawing Project, an arts programming organization dedicated to connecting and growing community through the act of drawing, led the drawing workshop series in partnership with CommonBond, EngAge, and the wonderful residents in the Riverview Senior Housing community.
