Image Faculty Title Adjunct Faculty Education MFA, Iowa State University BFA, Iowa State University Originally from rural Eastern Iowa, Calee Cecconi (she/they) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. She maintains an active art and design practice and is currently a visiting assistant professor of graphic design at Hamline University. They teach web and interactive design classes at Hamline, emphasizing creative play, code as a design medium, design thinking, and design for good. Cecconi’s creative interests include code as an artistic medium; design and mental health; queer and femme voices in art, design, and music; intersection of digital and physical production methods; and surface and repeat pattern design. As a designer and multimedia artist, Cecconi has won more than 25 awards for her work, including several Editor’s Pick awards from Minted for repeat surface pattern designs; a Best in Show award for their digital mixed media piece “Formerly Occupied Spaces;” and an Excellence in Teaching Award from Iowa State University. Prior to becoming a professor, Cecconi was a design director, web manager, communications specialist, and community educator.
