Chelsea Novotny is an artist and educator based out of Minneapolis, MN. Her art focuses on collecting and experimenting with pressed plant material to create rhythmic textures within drawing, painting, and collage. She examines the imprint that nature has on us through our experiences with it.

Art is interconnected with life, movement, and nature. Art fosters a connection to ourselves and is connected to the outer world. Our bodies move when we create art, creating a mind body connection that engages us into the present moment. Observing nature can create a deeper connection with the world. Novotny creates a space for students to explore these connections.

All students are welcome and accepted within Novotny's classroom. As an educator, her goal is to empower and uplift every student no matter their background, culture, race, identity, or ability. She views all of her students through an asset based lens. An asset based lens acknowledges the strengths that each student brings to the classroom and creates an environment that fosters those strengths.
