Faculty Title Adjunct Faculty Education PhD, University of Minnesota Kjel Johnson has been a university educator since 1998, designing and instructing courses in film, media, and cultural studies at the University of Minnesota, Carleton College, St. Cloud State University, and Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He has also spent many years as a writing consultant and was the author of the University of Minnesota Student Writing Guide (2004). His primary research interests include: violence, society, and representation; media and politics; film history, theory, and criticism; and contemporary trends in critical theory and cultural analysis. He is also President of White Bear Montessori School's Executive Board of Trustees, a Certified Professional Project Manager, a K-12 learning specialist and teacher specializing in guiding students with learning, behavioral, and developmental differences and challenges, an advocate for gifted and neurodivergent youth, a fair-to-middling guitarist and luthier, and a hopefully-decent-enough dad.
