Lindsey Schmitt

Lindsey Schmitt (she/her) is a visual artist that makes drawings and paintings. Her artwork examines pausing and questioning the visuals that surround us, the flux of human identity, and the changing relationship between humans and the natural world. Handmade, colorful, and fresh are terms that have previously been used to describe her art.

As a visual arts instructor, she believes that making art fosters creativity, courage, and problem-solving abilities. Her goal is to make the class a place where students explore art and expand their curiosity of the world. She loves sharing information with students so that they are able to develop and advance their artistic skills to express their own individual ideas.

Lindsey earned her MFA from the University of New Mexico in visual art with an emphasis in painting and drawing. She also holds a BFA in Visual Art and a BA in Spanish from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Lindsey was featured as a guest artist at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally at the Eye to Pencil Gallery in London as well as throughout the United States at group exhibitions at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, MN (online); A1LabArts Gallery, TN; and the Tamarind Institute, NM. Lindsey has taught visual arts at the public school setting as well as at the collegiate level. She actively teaches online for the Authentic Children’s Art Association and in person at Perpich Center for Arts Education.
