She holds an M.A. and B.A. in art history, both from the University of Alabama. She has taught art history courses at the University of Alabama and the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the art of the United States in the nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, with a focus on immigration, racial formation, and cultural identity in the Deep South.
