Nubia Monks is an actor, playwright, and educator. She has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, The Women's Theatre Festival, Ten Thousand Things, The Folger Theater, and The Guthrie Theater. Nubia has also performed in various virtual workshops, readings, and performances. She wrote Hands of Color which premiered at the Synchronicity Theater in Atlanta and then went on to receive the Suzi Bass Award for 'Outstanding World Premiere.' She was also recently rewarded as a finalist for the 2023 Royer Playwriting Excellence Award. She is currently a '23-'25 recipient of the Jerome's Fellowship at the Playwrights' Center where she is writing and developing new plays.
