Faculty Degree Dr Patty Born is the director of Environmental Education and co-director of Environment and Climate Studies at Hamline University. Her scholarly interests include human-animal interactions, nature connectedness and environmental justice. Her dissertation was a multispecies ethographic study that explored children's relationships with animals at a farm-based nature preschool. Prior to working in higher education, Patty held a number of nonformal science education positions such as park naturalist, museum educator and conservation educator.She has also worked in resource management where she conducted controlled burns, wildlife surveys, and reforestation work. She loves travel and leads study away courses so students can experience sustainable ecotourism and learn about how local and global environmental issues are connected. She has travelled to Egypt, Costa Rica, Baja Mexico, and the Galapagos. This is her first class for MCAD.
