Image Faculty Title Adjunct Faculty Education PhD, Prescott College MA, Western Michigan University Teresa has a B.A. in geography with an emphasis on conservation and an M.A. in geography with a concentration on natural resources analysis and environmental management. Teresa also earned her Doctorate in sustainability education with a research focus on economic and ecological justice in Lake Superior communities. Teresa is currently serving as a North Central Region Food Supply Chain Impact Fellow with the Federation of American Scientists and the United States Department of Agriculture working to support the Regional Food Business Centers and the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program. Teresa is also an Institute on the Environment (University of Minnesota) sustainability educator. She has published research and experience with digital storytelling and design thinking. Her Ph.D. coursework also included biophilic design that she worked to incorporate into her department’s home classroom. Teresa’s previous affiliation included serving as a sustainable food systems director for an environmental nonprofit where she used design thinking to help coordinate efforts to research building a small-footprint neighborhood grocery store and accessible community farm space and utilized digital storytelling and photovoice methods for program evaluation. She has 12 years of experience in higher education teaching environmental and ecological justice, human geography, sustainable food systems, environmental science, and sustainability courses. Teresa also formerly served as an Assistant Professor in the Environment, Sustainability, and Geography Program on the Duluth Campus in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and as the Director of Research, Outreach, and Education at the Land Lab and Sustainable Agriculture Project. She served on the Commission for Equity, Race and Ethnicity at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and the President’s Committee for Diversity and Inclusion at Northern Michigan University.
