I submitted a range of both conceptual and academic work. Recently, I've started creating digital collages of figures from various images dealing with a central theme and then translating those collages into oil paintings. These collages focus only on the figures, leaving the idea of an environment resting only on visual queues as given by the figures. The academic pieces represent practices that support my conceptual work Why did you decide to come to MCAD? The resources and facilities. What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond? I am graduating in December and will apply for a grad program to work towards my M.ED. in visual arts. Eventually, I hope to pursue an MFA in painting. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? I've met some incredible people through MCAD. Some faculty members have made an incredible impact on my work and have become trusted resources and friends. What's the best thing you've got from MCAD's free shelf? I love collecting various artists' books from the free shelf. I reference them frequently and got most of them from the free shelf! What inspires you? Humor, situations of performativity, color, ethics, reading, nature, photo culture, everything? Anything you're obsessed with at the moment? My dog, but that’s honestly all of the time. Website Junior, Drawing and PaintingClass of 1978 Merit $2,000Online Portfolio How are you going to celebrate your win? Dinner with my parents and a night out with friends. What kind of work are you excited to make next? I have been working more toward abstract work recently and hope to continue to explore that more. What made you choose to come to MCAD? I'm from Hopkins and did some work on campus before even considering applying. It felt right from the get-go and I've learned to love it since. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? I think college, specifically MCAD, really encourages personal growth and development in tandem with building up your skills. College really encourages independence and learning how to be self-sufficient and I think that is the most valuable skill you can have.
