I submitted a mix of character design work, storyboards, character animations and a few things outside of my usual work, those being backgrounds and a comic page. Why did you decide to come to MCAD? I really wanted to learn how to animate and after seeing the work the alumni of this school had produced, I knew MCAD would be the best route for me. It was also one of the more affordable options since many of the art schools in my hometown are far more expensive and offer little to no financial aid. What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond? I want to keep animating. Even if my future endeavors lead me to a field where I'm not animating, I still want to animate on the side. Whether it's continuing to build up my demo reel or making short fun goofy animations for myself to enjoy, I don't want to give this up. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? The friends I've made here. I've made great friends here that I want to continue talking with even after college and even when I move back home. What's the best thing you've got from MCAD's free shelf? A large white storage crate that I've been using for laundry since my freshman year at MCAD. What inspires you? My peers, animated shows that I've watched, animated movies, music, and my mom. While I'm far away from home at MCAD, she always finds the time to call me and to send me letters with drawings of my favorite characters on the envelopes. Anything you're obsessed with at the moment? Not necessarily obsessed with this one, but I do like this show a lot and it's Batman the Animated Series from 1992! My friend introduced the show to me this past spring break and we've watched a lot of the episodes together. Explore more about Kiana Tucker
