My work navigates how I feel in space. I'm incredibly influenced by the environmental crisis, but also my familial relations and upbringing. I submitted pieces that included multiple print processes, handmade paper, book, and even technology through laser cutting. Why did you decide to come to MCAD? My sophomore year in high school I remember my teacher had suggested I attend a portfolio review at MCAD. The following Fall I went to one and was introduced to this whole new world. Minnesota was close to home and I've always been obsessed with it's landscapes, so it just felt right. What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond? Oh boy. I just want to continue to meet people, have conversations, be curious, and make work for me, and others, that I'm excited about. I've been super excited about litho and handmade paper so I hope to dive deeper into those processes! I'm excited to attend grad school further in my life as well! Favorite thing about college life (so far)? The people. Especially my Professors. Most notably, Natasha Pestich has made a space so incredibly welcoming and comfortable.I feel like every time we talk I walk away having learnt something new with so much excitement to move forward. The best thing about art school is the people and having the opportunity to learn from each other. It's so beautiful. Reghan Sage Reghan Sage What inspires you? Being outside for sure. I hike often which puts me in a state of peace and clarity. I love the mornings, and I love birds. I love to listen to them sing! Especially early morning in the city. I also love music! I'm inspired by sound and being experimental with it. My sisters inspire me, we are so different but so similar and it's so beautiful. Also my wonderful partner. He keeps me going and is always my #1 fan. Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it! I think right now its "to live with you, for you." It's 4 lithographs of native plant species to Minnesota that are important to pollinators. I laser cut paper with their main pollinator and some text and placed it behind the print and then sewed them together. I love how light is included in the piece and I was so proud of myself for completing so much litho in what little time I had. I also love the message, it was just a lot of fun! Anything you're obsessed with at the moment? The new Beyonce album. Not usually what I would listen to and I've never been a huge fan of her in the past, but I try to listen to a new release every week and this one is INSANE! Crazy exploration of genres and themes and I just cannot stop listening to it. Explore more about Reghan Sage
