My work is a combination of digital and traditional artworks that investigate how people react to and experience environments around them. I often use bright colors and heavy texture to create my illustration work that spans both editorial and narrative career paths. Why did you decide to come to MCAD? I grew up in Minnesota and have always been inspired by the nature here. I wanted to stay close to home while finding a illustration program that would challenge me and push me to grow. Nori Donais Nori Donais What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond? For my senior year I would like to focus on creating a strong series of illustrations that lead into a professional career. After my graduation I plan on working freelance for editorial and publishing building a platform that allows me to work across multiple industries. Long term I would love to get into art direction as I love to work and connect with other artists. Favorite thing about college life (so far)? Meeting my friends and growing up as an artist. Nori Donais Nori Donais What inspires you? I am inspired by a lot of things that I find in my life. I always try to take photos of anything that catches my eye. My current favorite illustrator is Shaun Tan. Do you have a favorite piece you've made? One time in class I drew a really weird goldfish. I think about him often Anything you're obsessed with at the moment? Sand textures, low contrast oil painting, Scumbling with pen, the tree on the top of the hill by the old dorms...
