Akagawa Receives 2022 NAFSA Advocate of the Year Award

Alexis Akagawa ’01 has been awarded the 2022 NAFSA: Association of International Educators Advocate of the Year Award.

On March 4, 2022, NAFSA Vice President for Public Policy and Practice, Dr. Joanna Regulska presented Akagawa of Columbia University with the 2022 Advocate of the Year Award at NAFSA’s virtual Day of Action. The Advocate of the Year Award is an annual award to recognize an international education advocate who has excelled in grassroots advocacy. The Advocate of the Year inspires others to make a difference by engaging their elected officials in discussions and promoting policies that create a more welcoming and globally engaged United States.
