October 13, 2024 Image L.A.-based artist Edgar Arceneaux recently spoke to a local news outlet about his experience working in Minnesota, and his residency at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In an interview with MinnPost, Arceneaux first came to the Twin Cities in 2022 to participate in the Walker Art Center's Avant Garden party, and got drawn to the local art and activist scene after visiting George Floyd Square. He then was able to get a studio at MCAD (with additional help with both the Walker and the Dreamscape gallery) to work on a painting series based on the four seasons, something he wasn't able to draw from via the hot California climate."It is picking up little bits of you and me and everything else, and it chemically bonds itself to the silver," Arceneaux says about the project, which are placed in various spots around the Twin Cities. "It takes on a patina which is not metaphorically, of the place. Literally, it is the place."Learn moreMaking art from place: Edgar Arceneaux in Minneapolis(minnpost.com—September 24, 2024)
