Belvo's Upcoming Gallery "Hazel Belvo: For Love" at the Minnesota Museum of American Art

Professor-Emeritus Hazel Belvo has an upcoming gallery Hazel Belvo: For Love at the Minnesota Museum of American Art.

Hazel Belvo: For Love will be the first exhibition in the M’s galleries after multiple years of only presenting public-facing exhibitions in the windows due to the pandemic and facility renovation. For Love is a retrospective of Belvo’s career, which spans over 70 years. The artist's work outlines themes in their exhibit, such as; reviewing an artistic trajectory that weaves its way through the phases of a full and eventful existence, gaining insight into the broader struggles of many women artists as they work to build careers while caring for others, and working for others, and struggling to make change in the world. For Love examines the intersectionalities of Belvo’s life and how her artwork thrives because it is informed by competing and overlapping experiences.
