November 19, 2024 Image Faculty member Arlene Birt ’02, a communications expert and graphics officer for the 2023 IPCC Synthesis Report, will be speaking at a key event during COP29 on November 20 in Baku, Azerbaijan, titled State of Our Global Water Resources: Enhancing Knowledge for Climate Action.Hosted by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the MERI Foundation, the pavilion will focus on key climate topics, including water resources, early warnings, and climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture, energy, and health.Birt’s presentation will explore the critical role of communication in translating climate data for policy making. She will focus on how to communicate complex information about the planetary water cycle, its impacts (like floods and droughts), and the need for effective climate adaptation strategies.
