October 02, 2024 Image MCAD has recently hosted a visiting artist lecture by Los Angeles-based artist Jenna Caravello. The lecture, which happened on October 2, went over the various virtual reality and motion capture works of Caravello. An assistant professor of Design and Media Arts at UCLA, Caravello's work deals with dark subject matter, usually dealing with the themes of loss via a virtual avatar. Caravello has done animations with Unity (Wet House, 2016), motion capture simulations (Go Slow, 2021) and traditional 2D digital animation (Frontier Wisdom, 2017). Her interactive work Amber Row, which she has been developing since 2019, involves a deserted online server of an open world video game. The game, which ties into the loss and grief of a loved one, uses a specialized controller to help convey the emotions the game delivers.Learn moreCaravello's websiteMCAD Visiting Artist Lecture Series pageWeaving Together: Ecologies in Practice (2024-25 MCAD Visiting Artist Lecture Series)
