Crawford Channels Inner Wes Anderson for Winning Short Film

Tristan Crawford ’23 is one of several filmmakers to have their short films screened at the Main Cinema before their showing of Wes Anderson's Asteroid City.

Having made short films for years, Crawford's winning film, The Spare Companion, was created with cinematographer Eric Reimer, who he met during his studies at MCAD.

"With Wes Anderson films there are ‘rules’ to try to follow, like certain close ups, certain wide shots and of course symmetry," Crawford has stated. "I think the story was another thing I wanted to keep in mind while writing this. Keeping the narrator dry but the story almost wholesome and whimsical.”
