As a Fulbright recipient, Cedarleaf Dahl will share knowledge and foster meaningful connections across communities in the United States and Colombia. Fulbrighters engage in cutting-edge research and expand their professional networks, often continuing research collaborations started abroad and laying the groundwork for forging future partnerships between institutions. Her research project proposal Integrating Muralism; from Community to Classroom in Medellín, Colombia will investigate intersections between Medellín and Minneapolis’ mural arts movement and create a collaborative curriculum for community muralism projects and histories in Medellín and Minneapolis. "Medellín, Colombia and Minneapolis, Minnesota have stories of recent conflict, and redefinition amidst hardship. Both cities have an active street art and mural scene with artists that responded to the injustices present and are helping provide a moral compass towards the future. Both cities are working with fluctuating immigrant populations and are similarly sized, though the weather couldn’t be more different! Medellin is an example of transformation that Minneapolis could learn from and I am excited to bring my passion for this work and bring my family to this city for an immersive experience."
