Bruce Nygren ’69 is exhibiting Flights of Fantasy at Douglas Flanders & Associates, featuring new and previous works. This exhibition marks Nygren's eleventh solo show at the gallery.

A Minneapolis native, Nygren has been an influential figure in the Twin Cities art scene for over five decades. He began his career as a plein air artist before evolving into his signature whimsical still lifes and fantastical landscapes. Drawing inspiration from artists like George Inness, Winslow Homer, and N.C. Wyeth, his unique compositions feature naturalistically rendered vintage toys, anthropomorphic animals, and floating objects, all set within believable environments.

Nygren's art has garnered attention both locally and internationally, with pieces included in collections of major corporations. He has also contributed to the art community through teaching workshops in locations like the Apostle Islands and Maui, and has served as an artist in residence in Paris and the Black Hills.
