Historic Art Milestone: "Alchemist Series" on the Moon

On February 22, 2024, Frank Seidl ‘72 became the first artist to represent an art collection on the Moon with his Alchemist Series. This achievement marks the debut of art used for commercial purposes in lunar exploration.

The Alchemist Series, featuring intuitive renderings of consciousness through the female figure, was engraved onto space polymer and placed on the Moon by Intuitive Machines' landmark mission, which has been recognized as the first commercial Moon landing.

In collaboration with SpaceX and Lunaprise, this project highlights how art can enrich space exploration, combining philosophical value and cultural significance with the new frontier of the Solar System.
