May 24, 2024 Image While in the midst of finals at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, MCAD instructor Michael Gaughan and MCAD Student Activities organized the Laugh and Draw Event, combining comedy and figure drawing for students to take a break from finals, and take part in something they love. Gaughan stated that this idea is not original, but was inspired by Comedy Drawing School, an event designed by Lindsey White—Gaughan’s professor from graduate school at the San Francisco Art Institute. The event featured life drawing of five local Minneapolis comedians—Devohn Bland, Comrade Tripp, Pearl Rose, Alicia Kismet, and Lefty Crumpet—as they performed their ten-minute standup sets. Students were encouraged to let loose, explore, and laugh. Explore more about Michael Gaughan
