MCAD alumni Ryan Carr ’08 delves into horror as he works on a graphic novel adaptation of George Romero’s The Amusement Park. Amid the COVID pandemic in 2020, Carr revisited his fascination with the horror genre and began creating portraits of its most iconic movie characters.

These horror portraits caught the attention of a member of the Romero Foundation, who reached out to Carr for merchandise designs and promotional work. The foundation, dedicated to preserving and restoring Romero’s works, hired Jeff Whitehead to write the story and Carr to illustrate. The graphic novel is set for release on May 7, 2025.
