April 05, 2023 Image As part of a long-range campus plan designed by award-winning MASS Design of Boston, Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) has entered an agreement to purchase the Chroma apartment building located at 113 East 26th Street, adjacent to campus in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis. The seller is RSRC CHROMA LLC. This purchase allows MCAD to meet the growing demand for more campus housing by adding another 176 student beds to its existing number of 325 student beds. The transaction closing will be completed in June 2023. Current tenants will be able to remain in the building through the end of their leases. “This building is a phenomenal opportunity for more accessible student housing at MCAD. Each semester we have a long wait-list for campus housing. In fact, we lose some prospective students because they don’t want to commute or find housing on their own in the neighborhood. This addition to our campus will both strengthen our creative community and attract more students to MCAD,” stated MCAD President Sanjit Sethi.
