MCAD student Marcy Nelson '28 seeks to change the landscape of animation and give communities like hers, the queer and disabled communities, the representation they need. In an interview with Fox 9, she specifies that "with disabilities, they're typically shown to have a cure and you don't really have a cure for a disability. You just kind of live with it and get around it."

After an accident at the age of 2, she needed to have her arm amputated. Since then she’s adapted and overcome any obstacle in her way and is working at a Chisago City McDonald's. With the help of the McDonald’s scholarships, she landed a spot at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where she can grow her skills and make the changes she wants to see in the art world.
