Rudy Sullivan, "Craft Mac & Chair"

Rudy Sullivan, a current student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, was recently highlighted on Kerfkore’s website for his inventive Craft Mac & Chair.

Sullivan's piece was the culmination of his final assignment in Merick Reed’s '19 Textile and Surface class, which required students to upholster furniture with unconventional materials. Using Timberflex panels provided by Kerfkore, Sullivan designed a playful, mac and cheese-inspired chair. Sullivan, who transitioned from a business degree at Marist College to Furniture Design and Manufacturing during the COVID-19 pandemic, leveraged his background in business to inform his approach to design.

The Craft Mac & Chair project not only showcases Sullivan’s creativity but also highlights the potential of Timberflex in furniture design. Sullivan plans to use leftover Timberflex in future projects, including his senior work, aiming to create cost-effective and unique furniture pieces.
