MCAD's 27th Annual Art Sale Highlights Student and Alumni Talent

The 27th Annual Art Sale at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design wrapped up Saturday. The sale showcased nearly 7,000 works by 500 alumni and student artists.

Over the years, the MCAD Art Sale has grown from a modest event organized by three staff members to a major showcase for both emerging and established artists, providing valuable experience in pricing and networking. A portion of the proceeds supported student scholarships, with last year's sale raising $450,000 for artists and $100,000 for scholarships.

Alumni, including artists like Ellen Thomson ’15, who has participated since 2016, relied on the sale to connect with collectors and boost their income. For students like Noah Thomalla, the sale served as a key stepping stone into the professional art world.
