MCAD faculty Luis Fitch and Nancy Ariza received grants from Forecast. Fitch earned the $10,000 mid-career grant for his project Art for Community: Beautifying Public Spaces and Preventing Graffiti through Utility Box Wrapping. The initiative will transform six utility boxes on Lake Street into bright public art. It would encourage community engagement and input, drawing from the local culture and business to curate an appealing and welcoming space.

Nancy Ariza received the $2,500 early research and development grant. Ephemeral Public Art: Mud Stencils for Community Engagement, is intended to explore and research methods of eco-graffiti. The goal is to both create a model for community engagement and find techniques and methods for adding color the the usual monotone medium, in a way that is still environmentally friendly.
