Paul Shambroom ’78

Paul Shambroom ’78 debuted his newest exhibit American Photographs on January 21 at the University of Minnesota’s Katherine E. Gnash exhibit. The exhibit is a collection of photographs over the course of four decades of exploring America’s cultural and political landscape. His goal has been to approach the subjects of his work in a casual and non-judgemental way, instead wanting to explore them with genuine curiosity and a desire to understand.

The more recent of his works featured also include phone photographs, which he considers to have as much artistic value and merit as professional photography. He believes that because of the informal nature of the medium, it has fewer constraints and rules than formal photography, allowing for more experimentation and versatility.
