What surprised you the most about the Pre-College Summer Session?

I was most surprised by how extremely nice the Resident Assistants (RA's) and Teaching Assistants (TA's) were! I truly felt like they were there to help and support us in many ways, especially with how hard the transition the first couple of days felt at times. The RA's and TA's were truly amazing, kind, and considerate individuals.

What aspect of the program has had the biggest impact on you?

The friendships I made and the support I found in such a short time, 18 days. I made many friends that I am still in contact with even after the program ended.

How has your artistic practice changed from being a part of the program?

My artistic practice has changed in a way I didn't expect. I was in the photography program and before attending MCAD's PCSS, I liked my camera but honestly didn't pick it up as much as my phone. Now I pick up my camera and love expressing myself and art through it. I am now able to look through the lens and see the art I want to make or capture with the camera.

What was your favorite experience, outside of the classroom?

Taking trips off campus with the friends I made. We would go on walking adventures to the local boba tea shops and thrift stores around campus. On one trip, I picked up a great pair of super cute striped shorts that I wore for part of my final project.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about coming to Pre-College Summer Session?

Follow through with your ideas and your mind no matter what you see around you. Know that what you are creating does and will have an impact on others in a really good way.
