Faculty member Jovan C. Speller was recently featured in a Star Tribune to talk about her current exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and her exploration of the protection of Black Lives.

Nurturing, and Other Rituals of Protection aestheticizes the security of a community too often targeted, misunderstood, and misrepresented in public spaces. From the creation of a sound installation to scenes of protection across the gallery walls surrounding the viewer, Speller depicts the story of fear and hope for Black families in every American community.

Nurturing, and Other Rituals of Protection
On view through June 26
Mia (Minneapolis, MN)
