The Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) proudly announced MCAD adjunct faculty member Wen-Li Chen and MCAD professor emeritus Karen Wirth as the 2024 McKnight Book Artist Fellows, each receiving $25,000 to advance their artistic practices.

Wen-Li Chen, an interdisciplinary visual artist from Saint Paul, blends poetry and cultural history in her work, exploring themes of immigration and identity. She plans to use the fellowship to deepen her exploration of typography and screen printing at MCBA.

Karen Wirth, known for her decades-long career merging architecture and book arts, will use her fellowship to explore new directions inspired by Arctic residencies. Her retrospective exhibition at MCBA/Open Book will celebrate her architectural explorations through book arts.
