April 19, 2022 Image Ann Wood Ann Wood ’87 has been featured in the Wall Street Journal for her realistic hand-crafted paper flowers. Wood takes inspiration from real-life flowers in her garden. “Right now I am growing flats of seedlings because I like to see a flower through, from seed to mature plant, when I am making it,” she said, adding that it can take her 25 hours to create a single stem. All of her creations go on her "flower wall," an exhibit that travels to museums worldwide. In addition to paper flowers, Wood creates mixed media portraits and theatrical tableaus of mysterious beauty and solace whose identity is grounded in the timeless aesthetic and ethic of rural America. Her work is delicate and direct with a nod to craftsmanship from long ago. Learn More Why Paper Flowers Are This Hardcore Gardener’s Guilty Pleasure (wsj.com—April 6, 2022) Ann Wood's Website
