Celery + Living Principles = Sustainable Graphic Design

Design: A Powerful Conduit for Change

Celery Design Collaborative’s cutting-edge green design and brand strategy is proving that sustainability can have both a positive impact on the world and be good for business. With over 10 years of experience working with industry leaders in corporate responsibility, clean tech, organic foods, renewable energy and community development, Celery has become an advocate for a new model of graphic design.

Brian Dougherty, founding partner and creative director at Celery Design Collaborative, and author of Green Graphic Design (Allworth Press, 2009), will present the Living Principles for Design framework and show how Celery incorporates these sustainable design ideas into everything they do. Hear how Celery takes sustainability beyond surface visuals and recycled content, and adds real value to their clients’ messages, keeping them returning to Celery again and again.

It all takes place at Brave New Workshop’s new 824 Hennepin location in downtown Minneapolis (former site of Hennepin Stages Theatre). Appetizers served by Common Roots Catering during the reception from 6-7 p.m. Cash bar.

Why Brian Likes Celery
Brian Dougherty is a founding partner and creative director at Celery Design Collaborative. He focuses on creating communications that have a positive impact in the world. From studios in California and Paris, France, Celery helps clients craft CSR communications, online communities of action, eco-innovative packaging, and interactive exhibits. Clients include HP, Autodesk, Camper Shoes, and the new Cradle to Cradle Institute. Brian lectures frequently around the world on the subject of sustainable design. Brian is the author of the book Green Graphic Design, which came out in 2009 and will be published in Brazil and Italy later this year.

Creative Action for Collective Good
Originally conceived by AIGA, The Living Principles for Design framework is a catalyst for driving positive cultural change. It distills the four streams of sustainability – environment, people, economy, and culture – into a roadmap that is understandable, integrated, and most importantly, actionable. Designers, business leaders, and educators can use The Living Principles to guide every decision, every day.
