An Introduction to Biomimicry: A Sustainable Design Methodology (online)

biomimicry comic

If you’re reading this, you’ve no doubt heard of biomimicry, innovation inspired by nature. You may also know that the promise of biomimicry is “resilient design for a climate impacted world”. If not, you’ll enjoy the short film “The Promise of Biomimicry”, created by The Biomimicry Institute and Tree Media.

Many students find our program through biomimicry, as there are so few places where you can get rigorous training online in the greater context of sustainable design. This course is a wonderful easy way to learn how to create innovative and sustainable design solutions inspired by nature.

If you’re curious about biomimicry and would like to give it a go, you’re in luck! We’re offering our fully online short course Introduction to Biomimicry: A Sustainable Design Methodology.

It’s fully online, but it will send you outside each week to observe, notice, and journal in nature, then apply what you see in — perhaps in your own backyard — to develop your own creative design ideas. It’s also a nice way to get a sense of what online learning is like, and to meet people from around the world.

This course tends to fill quickly, so please register asap!

Dates: June 3–July 7, 2024

Instructor: Stefanie Koehler

Open to students ages 16 and above.
