Nice Ride Bike Share Minneapolis

Minneapolis is known for its excellent public transportation, and students take advantage of it daily.

Rated the bike-friendliest city in the country by Bicycling magazine, those without cars have no problems getting around thanks to our numerous safe, affordable, and green-minded options. And in case you were wondering, biking trails are always plowed within twenty-four hours of snowfall so it is possible to bike year-round.

Bus and Light Rail

Metro Transit is one of the country's largest and best transit systems, offering an integrated network of 130 bus routes, 2 light rail lines, and a 40-mile commuter train, as well as resources for those who carpool, walk, and bike.

Discounted MetroTransit Passes—good for unlimited bus and light rail rides during the semester—are available starting the week before each semester. Stop by the Art Cellar or call 612.874.3775 for more information and to purchase a pass.

Car Share

For people who wish to temporarily "rent" a vehicle, HOURCAR may be a good solution. MCAD's parking lot currently has a Subaru Forester available. This large capacity, all-wheel drive vehicle is useful for carrying lots of art supplies and navigating the roads during the winters in the Twin Cities. The Subaru Forester may be checked out by members on a scheduled basis.

Bike Share

Nice Ride, a non-profit organization, allows subscribers to simply take a bike when they need one and return it to any station in the system when they arrive at their destination. It's fast, easy, and affordable.

Walking and Biking

Bike Walk Twin Cities (BWTC) is a federal initiative to increase biking and walking and decrease driving.
